The full form MBBS is Medicinae Baccalaureus, Baccalaureus Chirurgiae, meaning Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery. It is one of the most popular courses worldwide for graduating as a doctor.
After 5.5 years of graduation (in India), including 4.5 years of study and 1 year of Internship, a student finally becomes a Doctor. It was given the Guinness Books of World Records marked it on May 18, 2011, as the toughest study course ever.
MBBS Full Form
MBBS stands for Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of surgery, which is derived from the Latin word- MBBS meaning Medicinae Baccalaureus, Baccalaureus Chirurgiae. Therefore, it is a combined version of Latin and English words.
MBBS Degree
MBBS is an A-level professional degree or more precisely, an Undergraduate course for becoming a doctor. This is one of the most renowned degrees through which one can practice medicine.
The title “Dr” or Doctor can then be used before the name to refer to the person. This is not just a title, it’s a title of courtesy indeed!

Internship
Duration: 1 year
In this time period, students are exposed to clinical practice by working at hospitals.
Therefore, a total of 4.5 years of theory (1+1.5+1+1) and 1 year of internship makes it 5.5 of course.

It is all about learning practical skills now. In this phase of MBBS, one adapts to approaching real patients and performing procedures. Rotation in different areas such as wards, OPD, OTs, and Emergencies grants significant exposure and helps establish a role in medical society.
